Sweet Memories

Overview

An elderly man reminisces about the first love of his life through old polaroids. The man takes a dusty old box from a drawer in his house. Inside are photos that recount moments from the life of the guy with the girl. These photos are actually figments of his mind trying to recall the good times of that summer around 1970. The events depicted in the polaroids are particularly four: the moment when the two, in their youth, met in the park while reading the same book, "Cento sonetti d'Amore"; their summer together; the car accident that took her life.

Challenges & Approach

During my Master's Degree at the National Film Academy of Bologna, the teacher asked us to Create a story using 10 pictures. Instead of "just" that, I shot a Short Film but still valorizing the 10 pictures, in this case, Polaroids.

The result

The result is a dive into the Italian 70s past of an elderly man in the who remembers his first love, thanks to the memories expressed through the 10 polaroids.
