Challenges & Approach
At the end of my Master’s Degree at the “National Film Academy of Bologna”, the final exam was to write and direct a Short Movie in pair. That’s how me and my good friend and colleague Toma Azzarone started creating COLPE, which literally means “FAULTS”. The Short Film explores the clash of perceptions, the different viewpoints people have about a single event, and how these perspectives collide in the search for the truth. It doesn’t just focus on one character's feelings of guilt or remorse—whether justified or not—but also on the act of accusing or being accused.
The biggest challenge was the work in pair, not only in terms of the screenplay, but also and above all in terms of direction. The winning artistic combination of ideas can only succeed through communication and collaboration. But the biggest challenge was also to shoot the short film in just 8 hours with a 0€ budget, thanks also to the help of the National Film Academy of Bologna.
The result
This hard work earned us the Best Screenplay Award at the "INFINITO di LENTINI" Film Festival 2024.
